Second Annual European User Group Meeting Proves to Be a Success!

More than 60 people attended the Second Annual European Editorial Manager User Group (EEMUG). The event took place at the BMA House in London on December 2, 2005.

UK Representative Brian Lewis gave an in-depth presentation on new features now available in Editorial Manager 4.0, including new options for letters, reviewer statistics, and CSS, plus assignment status reports and smart-linking to bibliographic sources. Liz Blake of Inera Inc. offered insights on using eXtyles for reference-checking in EM 4.0. Other presentations included a section on HTML with Jennifer Fleet (Director of Customer Service), and a preview of new features in development for Editorial Manager 5.0, by Richard Wynne, VP of Sales and Marketing.

UK Account Coordinators Sean MacRae and Wendy Moore conducted specialized Reports Clinics to help users make the most of Custom Reports and General Data Export tools. As usual, the New Features Workshop proved to be one of the most popular and successful sessions of the event. The New Feature Workshops allow users to discuss Editorial Manager in small groups, and to give valuable feedback about new features and changes they would like to see. Following the meeting, user feedback is reviewed by our product development team, and many of the ideas will be reflected in future versions of EM.

Evaluation forms filled out by attendees showed a consensus of opinion that the User Group Meeting is an excellent way to network with colleagues. Among the favorite sessions were the New Features Workshops, the thorough 4.0 demonstration, and the preview of Editorial Manager 5.0.

The Aries staff particularly enjoyed meeting clients in person, and listening to suggestions for future releases of EM. An important goal of the meeting was to display Aries' commitment to enhancing users' productivity and to developing technology to help journals thrive.
