Frequently Asked Questions

Q:
Are flexibility and configurability really that important?

A: Scientific publishing is a competitive and fast-changing business. In this context, does it make sense to purchase a system that is "hard coded" to a fixed workflow, that cannot be dynamically reconfigured, or that cannot be transparently upgraded?

Editorial Manager makes provision for inevitable changes in your future needs without requiring expensive custom software modifications. For example, if your journal decides to add a new type of editor, this person can be configured directly into Editorial Manager by the journal office without the need for costly software changes that may take months or years to implement. Similarly, Editorial Manager letters can be edited and associated with system "events" by the journal office at any time.

In order to keep pace with the fast changing environment, Editorial Manager journals are upgraded with new software releases two to three times per year. These upgrades are scheduled at the journal's convenience and are conducted seamlessly without the need for data reload.

Think ahead! Don't get stuck with a system that you can't dynamically reconfigure, and that cannot be upgraded without lengthy delays or disruptive reloads. Selecting the wrong system could hamper your journal publishing program for years.
